No. As of 21 October 2026, Epicor has announced no end of life, end of sale or end of on-premises releases for Eclipse. Epicor’s January 2026 announcement set final on-premises releases for Kinetic, Prophet 21 and BisTrack only. Eclipse shipped release 2026.1 in May 2026, and Epicor’s August 2026 Eclipse Cloud guidance describes two major releases a year. The practical move: keep Eclipse, put an AI operations layer like Morsa on it now, and migrate if and when you choose, with Morsa running across Eclipse and the new ERP during the move.
Morsa publishes this guide. Every statement attributed to Epicor was read on epicor.com on 21 October 2026. We do not predict Epicor’s plans; we report what Epicor and credible sources have said.
What is Epicor Eclipse?
Eclipse is Epicor’s ERP for wholesale distributors in the electrical, plumbing, HVAC and PVF (pipes, valves and fittings) trades. Epicor calls it the “Top ERP for Wholesale Distributors” and highlights “front counter capabilities, work queues, job management, advanced inventory forecasting, EDI, and contract pricing” [1].
Eclipse ERP dates to 1990, when Eclipse Inc. built it as a distribution management system. Intuit bought the company in 2002, Activant acquired it in 2007, and Epicor took ownership in 2011 when Activant merged with Epicor [2][3]. The system runs on a UniVerse database [3]. Users still work in its Eterm and Solar interfaces [4][5].

Is Epicor Eclipse being sunset?
Here is the full public record we could find.
Epicor’s January 6, 2026 announcement does not include Eclipse. Epicor set final on-premises feature releases for Kinetic (2028.1, tentatively January 2028), Prophet 21 (2028.1, tentatively May 2028) and BisTrack, and said future innovation for “these platforms” moves “exclusively to the Epicor Cloud” [7]. Eclipse is not named anywhere in the release. ERPFocus states it plainly: “Eclipse was not part of that announcement” [2].
Eclipse keeps shipping releases. Release 2025.1 became generally available May 8, 2025 [8], 2025.2 on November 6, 2025 [9], and 2026.1 was announced May 11, 2026 with order status controls, warehouse improvements and expanded Quick Ship shipping [6].
Epicor’s own Eclipse pages speak about the future. The product page says Epicor continually enhances Eclipse with new technologies, such as AI, “to deliver a modern platform that grows with you today and in years to come” [1]. The August 25, 2026 Eclipse Cloud article says cloud customers “can remain up to three releases behind while staying within supported versions” and that Eclipse Cloud “continues the familiar two major releases per year” [4].
Epicor is steering Eclipse customers toward Eclipse Cloud, not away from Eclipse. The same article says the move to Eclipse Cloud needs “no data conversion”, keeps integrations, custom forms, Eclipse Reports, SQL Replication and Eterm, and that “you continue to own your software licenses” [4].
The Reddit thread asked the question in May 2024. In r/epicor’s “Is the Epicor Eclipse going to sunset?”, users discussed Eclipse’s age and integration pain, and when one asked whether anything was announced at Epicor Insights, a reply was “Nothing mentioned as of today” [5]. That is user discussion, not an Epicor statement.
So the accurate answer is: Epicor has not announced an end of life for Eclipse. Epicor has not said Eclipse will continue forever either. Its stated direction for all its ERPs is cloud first [7], and for Eclipse that means Eclipse Cloud [4]. If an announcement comes, it will appear in Epicor’s newsroom and your account manager will tell you; ask them directly and get the answer in writing.
Why Kinetic and Prophet 21 got dates and Eclipse did not
We do not know Epicor’s reasons, and Epicor has not said. What the record shows is a difference in hosting model: Epicor’s Kinetic and P21 announcement is about ending on-premises feature releases [7], while Epicor’s newest Eclipse guidance is about moving Eclipse itself to Eclipse Cloud with the same data structure [4]. Industry analyst Robert Kramer of Moor Insights & Strategy told CIO, about the Kinetic, P21 and BisTrack change, that “Epicor is not turning off on-premises systems overnight” [10].

Your options if you run Eclipse today
Option | What it means | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
Stay on Eclipse on premises | Keep upgrading through EpicCare; twice-yearly releases continue | Your own servers, SQL replication and security patching; add-ons like IP&O and Elite EXTRA need current releases [9] |
Move to Eclipse Cloud | Same Eclipse, hosted by Epicor; no data conversion; licenses stay yours [4] | Hosting cost; confirm third-party integrations (Epicor names Innovo and KORE as supported) [4] |
Move to Prophet 21 | Epicor’s other distribution ERP, broader trades [11] | P21 on premises ends new features in 2028, so this means P21 cloud [7] |
Move off Epicor | NetSuite, Acumatica, Business Central, Infor and others | A full re-implementation; Eclipse’s job management and counter workflows are trade-specific |
Add an AI operations layer now | Keep Eclipse and put Morsa on it | Choose one live problem for a pilot |
Epicor’s Ascend program supports existing Epicor customers moving from on premises to cloud, and new customers replacing other ERPs, with a 90-day go-live target for qualified implementations [12].
What Eclipse users struggle with today
Users in the r/epicor thread describe the same pains: getting data out of Eclipse for reporting (several use Kourier or Phocas to move Eclipse data into SQL), integrations that depended on the API package, and a dated interface [5]. One said Epicor’s API library “really changed the game” for building ecommerce and internal tools [5]. None of that is solved by a migration date; it is solved by getting the daily work done well on the system you have.
Keep Eclipse, add the AI layer now, migrate when ready
Whether Eclipse runs for another decade or not, the expensive part of an electrical or plumbing distributor is the work around it: counter and inside sales retyping emailed POs and job releases, buyers chasing suppliers on backorders, and reps answering “where is my order” all day. An ERP change does not remove that work; it adds a project on top of it.
The modern way is to let an AI system do that work on top of Eclipse. Morsa reads customer orders and job releases from email, PDFs and phone photos, matches customer part numbers to Eclipse items, asks before guessing, and enters them through the Eclipse API. It chases suppliers from the buyer’s own mailbox, reads their replies and updates the PO dates in Eclipse. It answers “where is my order” with Eclipse status and carrier tracking, and flags a slipped PO with the jobs and customer orders it hits and a proposed fix for one-tap approval. People approve; Morsa does the typing and chasing.
If you later move to Eclipse Cloud, P21 or another ERP, Morsa connects to both systems at once and runs across Eclipse and the new ERP during the move, so open orders, backorders and supplier promise dates survive the cutover. You get the value now, and the migration decision stops being urgent.
At J4S, a 120-person glass plant, on-time completion of operational commitments rose from about 30% to about 75% in four weeks across about 900 commitments [13]. At JRG Automotive, Morsa caught 5 of 8 production-stopping shortages early, saving $2 million. Morsa starts with a pilot on one live problem, has no per-seat licences, goes live in days, and offers these terms: “We’ll catch a shortage in your plant, or you don’t pay.” See also AI for electrical distributors and AI for HVACR distributors.
