Quote template
A quote (or quotation) is a priced offer: what you will supply, at what price, on what terms and until when. Fill in your company, the customer and the items, price each line from your cost with a markup or a target margin, and download a PDF, a Word file, an Excel workbook or a CSV, or print it. Your costs and margins stay on your screen; the customer sees only prices.

What a good quote includes
A quote number and date, so the customer can put it on the purchase order.
How long the prices hold. The template prints a valid-until date from the number of days you enter.
The customer’s reference, such as their RFQ number, so the buyer can match your quote to their request.
Each item: your part number, a description the buyer will recognize, quantity, unit of measure, unit price and line total.
Freight, discount and tax shown separately, so the total has no surprises.
Lead time, payment terms and shipping terms, written out, so the customer knows when the goods arrive, when payment is due and who pays the freight.
How to accept: sign and return, or send a PO that references the quote number.
Pricing the lines
Each line can be priced three ways: cost plus a markup, cost at a target margin, or a price you type. As you go, the template shows each line’s margin and the blended margin of the whole quote, worked out on dollars rather than by averaging percents. Unit prices are rounded to the cent before they are multiplied out, so the PDF adds up the way a customer will check it.
| To earn this margin | Mark up cost by |
|---|---|
| 20% | 25% |
| 25% | 33.3% |
| 30% | 42.9% |
| 35% | 53.8% |
| 40% | 66.7% |
Markup = margin / (1 - margin). The markup calculator converts any value.
How to use the template
Enter your company once and add your logo if you like. Both are remembered in this browser for the next quote; the logo is never uploaded.
Add the customer, the quote number and how many days the prices hold.
Add a line per item. Choose how to price it and enter the cost and markup or margin, or type the price.
Add any discount, freight and sales tax, then the lead time, payment and shipping terms.
Fix anything listed under Before you send, then download the PDF, the Word or Excel file, or the CSV, or print.
Start the next one with New quote: your details stay and the quote number goes up by one.
WHERE MORSA FITS
Quotes are only worth the ones that turn into orders.
Morsa writes quotes from your price book and your target margins, sends them, and follows up until the customer orders or says no. It works in email, Teams, WhatsApp or whatever you already run on, and it reads prices and stock from your ERP.
