Price increase letter generator

A price increase letter tells a customer what is going up, by how much, from what date, and why, in a few short paragraphs. Fill in your company, the effective date, the increase (one percent or an item list from your price list) and the reason, and the generator writes the notice in a plain, warm or formal tone. Copy the text into an email or download a letter-size PDF.

The template is built in your browser. To write the finished letter, the letter fields are sent to Morsa's server, which checks every number against your inputs; nothing you type is stored or logged. Your address and logo are never sent.

What to put in a price increase notice

  • The increase: one percent for everything, or the old and new price of each item the customer buys.

  • The effective date, written out in full, so nobody has to guess which date format you meant.

  • The reason, in one or two sentences: raw material costs, a supplier increase, freight, labor or tariffs.

  • What is not changing: payment terms, lead times, the person they call.

  • Orders already placed: say whether open orders and orders placed before the date get the current price.

  • A contact for questions, by name if you can.

Example letter

This is the generator’s plain tone, word for word, for a 6% increase:

  • Subject: Price increase of 6% effective November 1, 2026

  • Hello Northside Hardware,

  • Our prices will go up by 6% on November 1, 2026.

  • The reason: our suppliers have raised their prices to us. Our steel suppliers raised their prices this quarter.

  • What is not changing: your payment terms, lead times and account manager.

  • Orders placed before November 1, 2026 will be billed at the current prices.

  • If you have questions or want to place orders before the change, contact your account manager.

  • Thanks,

  • Acme Industrial Supply

How to use the generator

  1. Enter your company name, the customer’s name (or leave it blank for a general notice) and the effective date.

  2. Pick the reason and, if you like, add a sentence in your own words.

  3. Choose One percent and type it, or Item list to use the lines from the Price list tab, with each item’s old and new price and the change.

  4. Add what stays the same and a contact, tick the box if orders placed before the date keep today’s prices, and pick a tone. Tick the notice box to add a sentence with the number of days between today and the effective date.

  5. For a letter on letterhead, add your address and logo: they print at the top of the PDF.

  6. Copy the text into an email, or download the PDF. Read it once before you send it: the letter says only what you typed.

Plain, warm or formal?

ToneOpens withUse it for
Plain“Our prices will go up by 6% on November 1, 2026.”Most trade customers who want the facts fast
Warm“Thank you for your business. We are writing to let you know ahead of time...”Long-standing accounts and smaller customers
Formal“Please be advised that ... will increase its prices by 6%, effective ...”Contract customers, purchasing departments, public agencies

Before you send it

  • Check your contracts, price agreements and quotes for a notice period or price protection; the generator does not know them.

  • Work out the new prices first. The price increase calculator shows what keeps your margin and reprices a whole list.

  • Send it early enough for customers to order ahead at today’s prices if you offer that.

Common questions

Does the letter leave my browser?

The template letter is built in your browser as soon as the fields are filled in. A moment later the letter fields go to Morsa’s server, which writes the finished letter and checks every number and date in it against what you typed; if anything does not match, the template stays. Every number and date in the letter is one you typed, and nothing you type is stored or logged. Your address and logo, used only on the PDF, never leave your browser.

Can I list every item?

Yes, up to 25 items in the letter, each with its old price, new price and change. For a longer list, send the letter with the CSV from the price list tab attached.

Can I say price increase notice instead of letter?

Yes. The subject line reads “Price increase of 6% effective November 1, 2026”, which works as an email subject or the heading of a notice.

WHERE MORSA FITS

Supplier raised prices? The quotes and the notice are the slow part.

When a supplier’s increase lands, Morsa updates the open quotes it affects and drafts the notice to your customers for you to approve, from the price lists and orders you already have. It works in email, Teams, WhatsApp or whatever you already run on.
