This proclamation raises the Section 232 tariff on aluminum and derivative aluminum articles from 10 percent to 25 percent starting March 12, 2025, and ends alternative arrangements for Argentina, Australia, Canada, Mexico, the EU and the UK. It also stops new product exclusions, ends general approved exclusions, and creates a process to add more derivative aluminum products.

Granted product exclusions remain until expiration or volume limit, but no new or renewed exclusions are allowed and all general approved exclusions end March 12, 2025.
USMCA
Canada and Mexico alternative arrangements are terminated, and imports of aluminum articles and derivative aluminum articles from Canada and Mexico are subject to the revised 25 percent rate. No USMCA-specific exception is stated.
WHAT TO DO (OUR GUIDANCE, NOT LEGAL ADVICE)
Identify imported aluminum and derivative aluminum SKUs covered by the listed proclamations and Annex I, including whether non-Chapter 76 items have reportable aluminum content. For entries on or after March 12, 2025, check country, smelt and cast information, Russian content, and any remaining product exclusion volume or expiration before quoting or entering goods.
